Bio
Gisele is a multidisciplinary visual designer and artist working across illustration, printmaking, surface design, and tattooing. Her practice is rooted in storytelling, and explores the translation of image across surfaces from paper and product to the human body. She holds an Honours degree in Communication Design (illustration) from Gray's School of Art, Robert Gordon University, and a bachelor's degree in Textile Design from Tehran University of Art. Prior to this, she completed a painting higher diploma (2016-2019), developing a strong foundation in observational drawing, composition and material exploration. Her work has been exhibited internationally from 2018 until present.
Gisele's creative practice combines a wide range of techniques, with focus on nature, psychology, and cultural identity. Drawing inspiration from authentic arts, especially Persian art presenting her heritage, she creates aesthetically pleasing visuals. Her practice is guided by a strong sense of observation and introspection, enabling her to translate complex emotions and cultural nuances into visual form. within this, tattooing since 2020 becomes her interdisciplinary medium translating visual arts and storytelling onto body adornments, seeing skin as a canvas. This informed her academic research, Tattoo as a Signifier for Consumer and Cultural identity: An Enquiry on Contemporary Perceptions of the Inked Society, exploring the connections between art, and identity.
